PORTSMITH LAGOON
About 140 km south of Broome on the Great Northern Highway, a well signposted turn-off takes you down 23 km of well maintained, all weather dirt road to one of the Kimberley region's best kept secrets, Port Smith Lagoon and caravan park.The lagoon boasts some of the best fishing in the area and is easily accessible all year. Shore fishers can catch mangrove jack, emperor, barramundi, mackerel, whiting, bream and the magnificent mudcrab. Offshore fishing grounds boast red emperor, coral trout, blue bone groper and the elusive fighting sailfish.

Port Smith Caravan Park
Boasting 100 large powered sites under hundreds of shady trees this is far from an average remote caravan park. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome on van sites, a small bond applies and guests are requested to clean up after their pets. Cats are totally banned from the park .Facilities include: spotless ablution blocks, coin operated laundry, underground 24-hour power and convenient fish cleaning area. The park store stocks most essential foodstuffs plus diesel and unleaded fuel, gas bottle refill service, bait, ice and fishing tackle. You can hire safe and sturdy Supa Duck hire boats for a good day's fishing in the lagoon or out on the bay.

Non-Caravanners
For those travelling light, the park has powered and un-powered tent sites. Or you can relax in air-conditioned comfort in bunkhouse style rooms - single, double or Four-bed family rooms with fridge, dining facility and outdoor setting with shared camp kitchen style food preparation area. All rooms have tea and coffee facilities. Self-contained, six-bed, air-conditioned cottage style units are available with en suite facilities, basic kitchens, personal barbeques and an outdoor setting. These units have a double bed and four singles,perfect for families or fishing parties. Health regulations do not permit animals in the rooms or units.

Nine-hole bush golf course.Just for fun the park has a nine-hole bush style golf course that is a challenge you should not miss with friendly competition most days of the main tourist season. There are very few courses in Australia where you can enjoy a friendly game of golf including club hire for only two dollars.
